FundRaising.Com Introduces Granola Bars for Fundraising

FundRaising.Com, a company that helps schools, school groups, churches, and charities raise money nationwide, is launching a new, healthier fundraising product - the "Bucky Bar" granola bar - that will give non-profit groups an alternative to selling sugar and fat-laden foods, such as lollipops and candy bars.

Non-profit groups across the country sell a variety of products to raise money for their good causes. Each year, hundreds of millions of dollars worth of lollipops and candy bars are sold in schools. Recently, "anti-obesity" groups have rallied to stop the sale of sugary and fat-filled sodas and candies in schools, and this "soft ban" has trickled down to include the products sold by fundraising groups. Until now, non-profit groups have not had much of a choice, as there were few healthy product choices available from fundraising companies. With the introduction of FundRaising.Com's new Bucky Bar granola bar, however, non-profit groups now have a healthier option when it comes time to decide which product they will sell to raise their badly needed funds.

"When compared with a leading name brand chocolate bar, our Bucky Bar granola bars have 62% less total fat, 83% less saturated fat, absolutely no cholesterol, 45% less sugar, 35% fewer calories and 58% fewer calories from fat. Multiply that times millions of bars to millions of kids, and our Bucky Bars can help improve the health of kids by giving them an alternative to lollipops and candy bars in schools."

FundRaising.Com's Bucky Bars come in full-color carrying cases, just like brand name candy bars. Bucky Bars are 1.23-ounce chocolate-dipped, chocolate chip granola bars that sell for "Just One Buck." Non-profit groups will make $0.50 profit on each bar they sell.

"The non-profit group is doubly motivated to sell Bucky Bars," says Lauralee Oenick of FundRaising.Com. "Not only are they a healthier option when compared with lollipops and candy bars, but the 50% profit on each bar is a real motivator for group leaders. They desperately need to raise money, and they are used to making only 35%-40% profit on candy bars. The little extra profit adds up to a lot of money by the end of their fundraiser."

In 2003, over $542 million of granola-type bars were sold in retail stores, but until now, they have not been sold as a fundraising product. "This is a risky idea, to sell something healthy for fundraising," adds Dick Raddatz. "But in the past two years we have grown our business by selling another healthy fundraising product, custom label bottled water. We started getting lots of positive feedback from customers, saying they were thrilled that we were finally offering something healthy for fundraising. We realized that we were on to something. Parents want their kids to have healthier choices these days, so we decided that the time was right to offer some healthier product alternatives for fundraising groups across the country."
