4 School Fundraising Ideas

It's the time of the year when schools plan their spring fundraisers, and schools look for creative ways to raise money for a special project, piece of equipment, or class trip. If you're on the fundraising committee, or are looking for ways to help out, below are four great ideas to get you started.

School Supplies Profit Sharing

Prepare a list of 10 to 20 commonly purchased school supplies and ask your local supermarket, discount retailer, or office supply store to consider donating some of the proceeds to your school if parents buy these supplies from their stores. Send shopping lists home with students; encourage the parents to shop for supplies at your partners' locations.

Game Day Goodies

Ask local businesses to donate cases of bottled water, sports drinks, and individually wrapped snacks, such as mini-pretzels or granola bars, keep on the look for healthy options! Take your treats to soccer and football fields to sell on game day. Have kids wear their school T-shirts so that customers know they are helping a school fundraiser.

School Spirit Day

Ask local restaurants to donate some of their profits to your school on a designated school spirit day. The event could run from 5 to 8 p.m, for example. Be sure to promote this school spirit day on your school's website and in take-home materials.

Pizza Lunch

Send home a flyer announcing pizza lunch day and let parents purchase a $5 pizza pass for their children. Let them select from two or three kinds of pizza; keep the choices simple. Many national pizza restaurants offer special prices for a school fundraiser, so contact your local establishment in advance to get the best price and arrange delivery times.
